Yesterday was my last day of "work", so I've got my last 4 days here free to do what I want...i.e. go windsurfing all day!!!

Got out for about 3 hours today. Centre is very busy now and all the sub 85L boards are being used by clients, so reluctantly had to take out the Axxis again. Initially it felt slow and heavy compared to the super-light JP wave boards, but once I got used to it again I realised it was probably much better suited to the flatter-water conditions than a wave board, and I had a good session on it. I'd forgotten how easy it was to get it planing and sail it over the confused swell/chop we get here, and also how easy it was to turn it round at the end of each run. So a good session for practising my manouvers....carve gybes, slam gybes on the outside, tacks on the inside, all achieved with varying degrees of success. Particularly good were my gybes on the inside, and I just about planed out of a couple, although they were still a long way off from being perfect enough to gain the session the elusive 5-star award. Also tried a lot more body-drags when coming in, and despite not completing one properly and getting back on the board, am getting the hang of what to do with them now, which is good. Hopefully will be able to pull off reasonably nice ones before I leave.

Of course jumping and wave-riding the Axxis was not as enjoyable as on a wave board, but I still gave it a go. Realised it is still possible to do a bit of wave-riding with it - you just have to go for longer more drawn out turns on the wave than the slashy turns that are possible with a wave board. A couple of OK jumps, and also one big mid-air hooked in catapult (nearly a forward loop...honest....) which left me lying in the water very dazed for a few moments....woohoo!!!

Session finished on a sour note when just after 4pm the wind dropped. I was left mucho underpowered, resulting in the inevitable drift downwind and a 10 minute walk of shame along the beach back to the club. Arse. Still, all in all a good session.
